The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia visited the Chester City Family Service Center to present them with a Community Impact Award for $500. This award will assist the Center to install a shower on their first floor.
CFGP’s Award to help build a shower is part of the Center’s current expansion of their emergency services. The Center is also working to install a private changing area and provide laundry services. The Center hopes to provide individuals with a safe place to practice good hygiene, and assist those in need with basic necessities for survival.
Operating for over 57 years, the Chester City Family Service Centers assists individuals and families suffering from poverty, homelessness, emergency pregnancies and other crises through their surplus of programs and support groups. The Center offers their programs to the public, free of charge.
Included in the Center’s supportive services is “Coffee Club,” a service offered three mornings per week where homeless individuals can enjoy coffee, donuts and bagels, and the Martha’s Choice Market, a food pantry where community members can pick what food is best for their families and receive nutrition information on each grocery selection. The Center also offers a class on pregnancy and parenting every Monday, with a lunchtime motherhood class called, “Parent Café.”
Congratulations to the Chester City Family Service Center!
