St. Martin de Porres, located in North Philadelphia, has been awarded a $7,857 grant from The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelpia. Serving children and families of North Philadelphia for over 100 years, St. Martin de Porres is now an Independence Mission School (IMS) with over 400 students. The first IMS in Philadelphia, St. Martin de Porres prides itself on quality education for all levels of learning. St. Martin de Porres provides a curriculum that encompasses core subjects such as reading, math and science, but also expands their scope to include extracurricular subjects such as Choir, Student Council, Cheerleading, Basketball and Track, and community service opportunities.
St. Martin de Porres School also offers an Extended Day Program for students who need extra care after school hours. The program prolongs the school day from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and continues education throughout the remaining 90 minutes. CFGP’s grant award will assist St. Martin de Porres with their Extended Day Program over the next three years.
